Health & Safety Notice

Welcome to SLEEPERTOWN, an immersive public art project that uses GPS and geolocation to provide sonic experiences in real-world locations. While we encourage you to explore and engage with the art, please note the following health and safety guidelines to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience.

  1. Self-Guided Experience
SLEEPERTOWN is a self-guided experience, and visitors are fully responsible for their own navigation and safety throughout the journey. Please ensure you are familiar with your surroundings and follow all local laws and regulations.

  2. Personal Responsibility
By participating in SLEEPERTOWN, you acknowledge that you are doing so at your own risk. The locations where the sonic experiences are geolocated may vary and may involve walking or traveling in public or private spaces. Always remain aware of your surroundings, particularly in urban or remote areas.

  3. Physical Safety
Take care when navigating outdoor locations, including sidewalks, streets, parks, or other public areas. Watch out for potential hazards such as uneven terrain, traffic, and environmental conditions (e.g., weather or lighting). Wear appropriate clothing and footwear for the conditions.

  4. Device Use
SLEEPERTOWN requires GPS-enabled devices or smartphones to guide your journey. Please pay attention to your device settings and ensure it is fully charged. Avoid distractions that may compromise your awareness of the environment while navigating. GPS is not always accurate from device to device, so always check your surroundings and make sure you are safe before following the directions/maps on your device.

  5. Emergencies
In case of an emergency, please contact local emergency services immediately. A list of emergency contacts for the area can be found at the local authorities website for Belfast City Council.

  6. Respect for Locations and Others
Please respect all public and private spaces, as well as other visitors. Avoid disturbing the natural or cultural environments you may encounter, and be mindful of noise levels when engaging with the sonic experiences.

  7. Health Concerns
If you have any health conditions or concerns that may impact your ability to participate safely, please consult a medical professional before engaging with the project. We advise participants to stay hydrated and take breaks as needed.

By participating in SLEEPERTOWN, you accept full responsibility for your own safety and well-being. These excursions are taken at your own risk and both OpenGorey and Look North take no responsibility for your Health & Safety.

The 10 audio walks are accessible during the project period via smartphone, Echoes app and headphones and can be experienced free of charge. Enjoy your journey through sound and space, and thank you for being a part of this unique artistic experience.
